Our Story

Southern Belle is born out of our love for community and delicious cuisine. Our goal was to create a restaurant with plant-forward options that highlights bold and lively flavors. At the heart of Southern Belle is Adessa Barker, the creative mind behind the menu, who hails from the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago. Inspired by her Trinbagonian heritage, she set out to fuse island spices and traditions with the rich culinary practices of the American South.

Unlike a conventional brick-and-mortar establishment, Southern Belle operates as a pop-up, encouraging innovation, sustainability, and flexibility. This approach allows us to present our food in unexpected ways and reach the community where they are creating moments of connection and joy through every dish.

This one-of-a-kind Southern-Trinbagonian fusion pop-up is a first for Spartanburg, South Carolina, and we’re proud to introduce something truly unique to the local food scene — food that brings people together, sparks conversation, and celebrates culture.
